Here are a few simple tips that can make all the difference when you experiment with different shades of red hair color while dyeing your own hair at home. While it can be a very simple thing to do, it can also result in fairly disastrous results if you are not sure about what you are doing.
Tip #1 - Use a semi-permanent dye the first time you try a new color. Why? Because it is easy to wash it out if you happen to not like the final result. If you shampoo your hair repeatedly within the first 48 hours of using a semi-permanent dye, you should be able to get most of the color out of your hair.
Tip #2 - Do not go by the color of the hair on the photograph on the box. The photos on hair dye boxes are not always true representations of what color your hair will become. Even though the girl on the front sports a rich, dark red hair color, your hair may look different once it is dyed. Instead look at the sample hair swatches on the package itself, or read what shade it says it is on the box. Both of those will give you a more accurate idea of what your head of hair will end up looking like.
Tip #3 - Instead of dyeing all your hair, streak it first. Putting streaks in your hair is a great way to see first of all if you actually do like the color. It also gives you an idea of whether or not you will get the shade you are hoping for. You can see if it matches your complexion and in general get a good idea of what to expect. If you like it, then you can go ahead and do all your hair.
Tip #4 - Don’t wash your hair for twenty-four hours after dyeing it. Why? That will give the dye time to ’set’, and it will end up lasting longer. If you can wait up to 48 hours to wash your hair that is even better.
Tip #5 - Do you want your color to last? If so, wash it with a color enhancing shampoo to help preserve the color for longer.
By carefully heeding the advice given in these tips, you should find that your home dyeing experience will go well, and you new hair color will last.
